The Super

10K, 25 Obstacles

Take your workout up a notch. With 25 obstacles and 10K of rugged terrain, the Spartan Super is a true test of athleticism and grit.

The Super is a formidable blend of distance and speed, designed to push the limits of those seeking a true challenge. 10K await you on this type of unique layout that only Spartan could deliver. Longer runs and signature obstacles make the Super a must for any obstacle course racer.

The Super is a step up from the 5K Sprint and a great segue to the Half Marathon Beast. You want to earn your TRIFECTA? Then you’re going to have to conquer a Super to get there. You can choose to run in the Open Category to take it at your own pace, or race in the Elite or Age Group categories for a fierce challenge.

Whether you are working towards your TRIFECTA or seeking a new distance to challenge yourself, the Super is calling your name.

The Super course consists of 10K of wild and exhilarating terrain, along with 25 of Spartan’s signature obstacles to keep you on your toes. That’s 5K more and five more obstacles than the Sprint. The Super is for those looking to take their Spartan journey to the next level. From classic obstacles like the spear throw to new challenges like the Helix, you’ll face a surprise with every turn.

Once you have crossed the finish line, you will be one step closer to joining the TRIFECTA tribe: a gritty group of racers who have completed a Sprint, Super, and Beast or Ultra in one calendar year.

We're not going to lie, you'll have to earn this stuff. No participation medals here. No excuses. There's an 8-mile obstacle course race between you and that finish line. You're going to have to give us your best. When you cross that finish line though, we're going to reward you with high fives, athletic recovery fuel, and some great finisher SWAG. You’ll get a Spartan Super finisher athletic shirt, a Super lanyard and medal, a TRIFECTA Wedge (bringing you one step closer to your TRIFECTA medal), free professional photos (available post race), race performance statistics and unlimited bragging rights.

Ready to Race?

Choose from three Registration Categories

The Spartan Starting Line is unique. Instead of one big wave like a marathon, groups of Spartan racers take off every 15 minutes throughout the day. When signing up for a Spartan Super, choose from three registration categories:

  • ELITE:

    • The most competitive category, the Elite Heat is split between Male and Female racers. These are the first two start times of the day, usually 7:30 and 7:45am. Racers in the Elite Heat are eligible for cash prizes and Elite rankings. For more info, see the Elite Category FAQ.

    • After the Elite heats take off, it’s time for Age Group. Racers will only compete against racers in the same age bracket (and gender based on heat capacity) and each bracket will have a designated start time. The top three finishers in each age group receive awards. For more info, see the Age Group Category FAQ.
  • OPEN:

    • The Open Category is for all skill levels and teamwork is encouraged. No prizes are awarded for these start times. There are two time blocks that make up the Open Category. The Morning time block takes place immediately after Age Group, generally between 8:45AM-12:45PM (but fluctuates depending on capacity). The Afternoon time block directly follows the Morning. These heats typically start at 1:00PM and go until the last heat of the day. Racers are assigned a specific start time 10 days prior to race day.

All Finishers Receive

  • Spartan Super Finisher Shirt
  • Spartan Super Finisher Medal
  • Spartan Super TRIFECTA Wedge
  • Free professional photos (available online after race)
