Get ready for the great expedition. An adventure that will push your body and mind.
For the first time ever, Spartan is bringing the Ultra World Championship to the sky-scraping peaks of Sweden. Join us this November for a journey of Viking proportions, hosted by Destination Åre.
Whether you race in the Elite, Age Group or Open heat, you’ll push yourself for up to 24 hours on an epic course. Open racers do not have to qualify to the compete, but they’ll take on the same challenges and adventures as Elite and Age Group racers. Once you finish, there’s an outdoor hot tub with your name on it at Holiday Club Åre.
If you are gritty enough to keep pushing, you have 24 hours to run as many laps as possible. The Ultra World Champions will be the male and female with the most miles racked up in the 24 hours.
As you continue through the course, you may rest at our 24-hour transition area for racers and spectators. Between each lap, racers have the opportunity to regroup before heading back out for another lap. This lively festival will be a place for racers to replenish and warm up, and give spectators an indoor location to eat, drink and support their fellow Spartans.
Finishing any course in Sweden is no small feat. Whether you run an Elite, Open or Age Group event, you’ll have to conquer a rugged mountain course lined with obstacles to reach the finish line. But the rewards for reaching the end are sweet.
Ultra finishers who complete 30 miles will receive the exclusive 2019 Ultra World Championship Finisher Belt Buckle. Those who complete additional miles will earn an Ultra Lap Pins for each additional lap. Finishers also receive a collector-edition Ultra World Championship shirt, free professional photos and, of course, unlimited bragging rights. Elite Ultra competitors can also compete for up to $8,000 USD in cash prizes.
Join us in Sweden for a one-lap dash on the Championship course. Even though the Super is a shorter event at 8 miles and 25 obstacles, it’s an ideal way to experience this incredible landscape firsthand.
This is a perfect option for those who want to join the Ultra World Championship but can’t commit to 30+ miles just yet. It’s also a great opportunity for spectators traveling to Sweden to hit the same course as their Ultra-running friends.
Get outside, experience a lap of the course and go home with an exclusive Finisher Medal, Shirt and memories to last a lifetime.
