2021 Spartan world championships

One of a kind experiences.
Knockout destinations.
The ultimate comeback year.

Spartan’s world championships are obstacle course racing’s most prestigious events for everyone from pros to first-timers. In 2021 they make an epic return with races taking place at high altitude in Colorado, in the remote desert of the UAE, along with a return to the stunning ancient mountains of Greece.

September 25, 2021  –  North Lake Tahoe Spartan Beast™ – North Lake Tahoe, CA
Home to the Spartan World Championship from 2015 to 2019, this brutal and beautiful former Olympic venue has become infamous among Spartans for its elevation and unpredictable weather. Expect an intense race full of steep inclines, hairy descents, switchbacks, warm to freezing temperatures, and a peak elevation of 9,050 feet.

Ask other Spartans about it and they’re sure to mention the (usually) freezing swim along with the stunning restaurants, bars, cafes and accommodation in and around the village.

November 27, 2021 – Home to the inaugural Spartan event in Australia in 2013, this course in Picton, New South Wales is typically Australian: no nonsense, fun, and friendly. Racers can expect a mix of manicured trails, technical terrain, rolling hills, and picturesque views of the countryside just outside of Sydney. It’s been twice voted the best obstacle course race in Australia, for good reason.

Elite and Age Group racers will take on the Spartan BeastTM in their quest for the APAC Championship crown, while athletes of all fitness levels can participate in one or more of three open races: The Spartan BeastTM, SuperTM, & SprintTM. Just one of the perks of the rare Spartan Trifecta Weekend.

The 2021 Latin America Championship date and location is coming soon.

Covering Mexico, Central and South America this regional championship is one of the newest and most fiercely contested, especially in the Age Group category. Spartan is currently working hard with local contacts and partners to finalize a spectacular race venue and will have more information shortly. Stay tuned.

September 18, 2021 - Verbier Trifecta Weekend - Verbier, Switzerland.
Voted the best Ski Resort in Switzerland in 2020, Verbier is the quintessential Swiss Alps getaway. Elites and Age Group athletes will take on Championship Spartan BeastTM heats, where they will traverse the historic village streets and the ruthless mountain slopes.

More casual Spartans from far and wide will follow suit, with a whole Trifecta weekend on offer and a guaranteed electric atmosphere that combines many cultures and languages. But don’t take it from us - many Spartan pro athletes have been quoted saying this is one of the most memorable experiences in endurance sports. The definition of a can’t-miss event.
